Canadians Mike Weir and Ryan Yip have both secured a place in the U.S. Open, bringing the total to five Canadians who will compete at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Weir, of Brights Grove, Ont., was the first alternate out of his Columbus qualifier last week while Calgarys Yip was the first alternate from Springfield, Ohio. The United States Golf Association was holding six spots for players in the top-60 of the world rankings who had not already qualified, and not all of the spots were filled.
